The signals your body sends you

Updated: Aug 29, 2022

Today is a new day. So, tell me how was your morning? Did you get up energized and looking forward to your day? Or were you tired, with aches in your neck? Did you have a nourishing breakfast and enjoy the food on your plate? Or did you feel discomfort in your stomach and were a little bit nauseous?

And how was your afternoon? Did you drink your second (or maybe even third) coffee for the day because you needed something to pick you up, or inhale a sandwich for lunch because you were in a hurry? But now, you feel bloated, tired, and sleepy? What’s more, you may even feel your back aching and a headache coming in. But there are so many things to do and so little time!

And when the day ends you feel exhausted, but wired so you can’t possibly exercise, and falling asleep is a struggle. Many of us feel depleted and unenergetic day after day, yet we get up the next day and do the same thing we did the day before. Until we experience a breakdown of our health and wellbeing that is.

In today’s blog post I want to tell you that you don’t have to feel that way. You don’t have to repeat your unenergetic day because you have the answers in your hands. You just need to depict them. And I’m here to show you how.

The signals

The definition of a mad person is to repeat what you do and expect a different result. It is time to stop the madness. If you always feel tired, stressed, and overwhelmed, if you suffer from headaches, bloating, IBS, neck or back pain, if you are lacking energy and motivation then it is time to start listening.

Many of us rely on external factors to solve all our health problems. If we suffer from any pain, be it a headache, neck tension, bloated stomach we reach for a painkiller to solve the problem. Medication has a place in treating the symptoms, but often it masks the signals our body sends to tell us that there is something not right.

Our bodies are marvellous. Thanks to thousands of complex processes, they are able to absorb the nutrients needed to give us the physical and mental energy, so we can follow on our dreams. A healthy diet, a balance of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, delivers the minerals and vitamins which can be used to give us energy. Thanks to that energy we can climb the stairs, play with our kids, or have an important conversation. When we are engaged in a body movement, our body releases endorphins to make us feel good and reward us for looking after our precious bodies. With the correct hormonal balance, our mental health can thrive. We can have a positive outlook on life and be more resourceful when a challenge presents itself.

The truth is that our body sends us signals all the time to tell us if what we do serves us or not. So, the best health practitioner you can ever listen to is your body. Your body knows what is best for you and it would do anything to keep you alive.

Unfortunately, today’s illness is that we lost touch with our bodies and stop listening to them.

How to read the signals

Our bodies were not designed to be stationary the whole day or to run marathons every week. They also were not built to survive on foods produced in the laboratory but rather what nature supply. And our bodies were not constructed to live lives full of resentment and anger. Therefore, anytime you do something that runs contrary to what Nature planned, your body sends you a signal that what you do does not serve you.

We often associate any health issue as an outside business. But your headache does not come from the outside. It comes from the inside, and it is a signal that the way you eat, move, possibly even think is not serving you. Your lack of energy is a way your body tells you that the level of stress is so high that once the perceived threat is dealt with, there is no energy left for you to nourish your mind. Your bloated stomach, IBS, constipation, or other gut disorder is a signal from your body that the food you put in does not do its job. Quite the opposite, it puts your insides in a state of inflammation.

You can mask the symptoms of a signal, but unless you get to the core of why your body is sending you that signal, you won’t resolve it. One of the most powerful questions you can ask yourself is to ask why your body will be sending you this signal? Was it something you ate, thought, felt, perceived? What is the message behind your tiredness, anger, pain, ache, discomfort?

You see, the only way to stop the signal is to do something differently from what you have been doing so far. That is how you stop the madness.

Conclusions

If you feel tired, stressed, with pain and aches all over your body, day after day, then it is time to start listening to the signals. Your body is magnificent, and it knows exactly what you need, and it would do anything to not only keep you alive but to keep you thriving.

Every time there is something not right, your body will tell you. Either it is the way you eat (and what you eat), the way you move your body (or the lack of movement), or the way you think and perceive things.

Taking a pill or engaging in obsessive behaviour that does not nourish you, will only numb the signal

To truly build your optimal health and wellness you need to get to the core of the signal your body sends you. So, listen very carefully: what is your body trying to tell you? What do you need to start doing differently to stop the signal?
